About the Position

Job Title: RN II - Neuro Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Nights + Every Other Weekend + Must Work 2 Major Holidays; First to Float Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 Years Required License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Minimum 2 years of recent experience, within the past 6 months. Travelers need to pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving an offer, with a maximum of 2 attempts. There will be a pass/fail exam on the first day of orientation, with an emphasis on sterile field techniques. Study materials will be provided with first-day instructions. Travelers should be up to date on proper sterile techniques. Description: This is a telemetry unit with 28 beds. Patient ratios are 1 nurse to 3-4 patients. Charge nurses do not have patient assignments. A clinical supervisor is available in a management role. Patient care technicians are assigned at a ratio of 1 per every 16 patients. The weekend requirement is every other weekend. Nurses must be able to interpret EKGs. There is no ventilation management. A hospitalist is in-house during the day and on call at night. Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are available 24/7. Shifts are for 12 hours, from 7 PM to 7 AM. Floor-specific orientation includes 2 days on the unit. Common diagnoses include neuro post-surgical patients, post-craniotomy, spine surgery patients, and CVAs post TPA. Cancellation policy allows for cancellation of up to 4 shifts per assignment. Charting is conducted using a designated system.
