The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, preservation, and safety of the landscaped grounds across all Reynolds Community College campuses. This is a working supervisory position that combines hands-on grounds maintenance with leadership, planning, training, equipment management, and administrative responsibilities. The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for recruiting, training, directing, and monitoring the performance of grounds maintenance staff to ensure that campus landscapes are maintained to a safe, attractive, and professional standard. The position requires working knowledge of turf management, horticulture, arboriculture, herbicide applications, landscape maintenance practices, and applicable State Stormwater regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing an effective landscape zoning and maintenance schedule; supervising daily grounds operations; inspecting campus grounds and identifying maintenance needs; maintaining grounds equipment and college vehicles; and ensuring that equipment and vehicles are safe, properly maintained, and operational across all campus locations. The supervisor is responsible for ordering necessary supplies, materials, equipment, and services within the allocated budget and in accordance with applicable State procurement requirements, including eVA and SWAM guidelines. The position also assists with planning and coordinating grounds-related projects and services to support the college's facilities and campus environment. This is a college-wide position that reports to the Parham Road location and works under the direction of the Facilities Manager. Although based at Parham Road, the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing landscaping and grounds maintenance operations at all Reynolds Community College campuses. The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is designated as Essential Personnel and serves as a first responder during inclement weather, emergencies, and other situations requiring immediate grounds or facilities support. The position requires flexibility, strong leadership, sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to respond to operational needs across multiple campus locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applies appropriate knowledge and skills in all major and minor aspects of landscaping equipment, equipment repairs, grounds maintenance, State Storm Water Regulatory requirements, turf maintenance, horticulture, arboriculture, herbicide applications, supervision, and leadership

Additional Considerations:

• High School or G.E.D. diploma required. • Driver's license required. • Strong background and/or training in grounds maintenance or studies in horticulture required. • Strong background and/or training In performing maintenance of vehicles and grounds equipment preferred. • Considerable experience in the day-to-day landscaping operations of a campus-type settings required. • Considerable experience in groundskeeping techniques and chemical applications required. • 3+ years of supervision experience preferred. • Category ltt, A and B, and VI Spray License preferred. • Erosion and sediment control certificate preferred.
