Responsibilities
The Central Branch YMCA is looking for an energetic, outgoing team player to fill the position of swim instructor to help create a safe and positive atmosphere in and around the pool and conduct swimming instruction in accordance with YUSA guidelines.
- Connect: Build effective, authentic relationships with members, swim participants, and parents.
- Nurture: Ensure a safe and positive environment for the swim lesson participants to succeed in program goals.
- Inspire: Encourage the involvement of all swim participants.
Requirements
Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:
- At least 15 years old.
- Spanish-speaking candidates strongly encouraged to apply
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Current American Red Cross or YMCA Water Safety Instructor is preferred.
- Certification from the YMCA or other accredited association or the ability to get certified is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent human relations skills.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Salary: Part-time $12.44 - 14.50 hourly
Hours Available: Friday 5:00pm-8:00pm
