Summary: Mechanic duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to the following:

Pali Mountain is seeking a full-time experienced assistant Mechanic. Our 250-acre facility is nestled in the San Bernadino Mountains, conveniently located in Running Springs, CA. We operate as a summer camp, outdoor education facility, and retreat center. Pali has guests and operates 365 days a year, this includes during inclement weather.

You will work alongside experienced mechanics to service a highly diverse fleet, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs/quads, Gators, boats, jet skis, light heavy equipment, and outdoor power equipment (chainsaws, leaf blowers, snowblowers). This position offers incredible variety and hands-on experience across automotive, marine, and small-engine disciplines. All basic tools are provided by the shop-you just need to bring your mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

Pali staff have on-site transportation to get around the site and access to the shop during work hours. Duties are dependent on program needs as well as issues that come up. Pali serves guests of all ages. Projects and maintenance occur while guests are on-site, so safety is paramount. Must be 18yrs or older to apply.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Skills:

Responsible for assisting the mechanic in performing repairs at times under limited supervision of some considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of equipment and company vehicles and helps perform any and all related work as assigned, including the following but not limited to,

• Diverse Mechanical Support: Assist with diagnosing, servicing, and repairing automotive vehicles, power sports equipment, marine craft, light heavy equipment, and small handheld tools.
• Small Engine & Tool Maintenance: Service, tune up, and troubleshoot small 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, including chainsaws, leaf blowers, and snowblowers (carburetor cleans, pull-cord replacements, blade/chain sharpening).
• Routine Vehicle Maintenance: Perform oil changes, fluid flushes, tire/propeller swaps, battery testing, and seasonal winterization.
• Parts Logistics & Towing: Drive company vehicles to pick up parts from local vendors. Safely hitch, tow, back up, and maneuver boat trailers and equipment haulers.
• Shop Upkeep & Safety: Keep work bays clean, maintain shop-provided tools, safely handle fluids, and prep units for the lead mechanics.
• Familiar with, and able to help work on brands such as John Deere, CAT, STIHL, HONDA, Briggs & Stratton, TORO, Ford, Daihatsu Mini and others

• During off season, may be required to assist with snow removal. Shoveling, salting, sand bagging, etc.,

• Complies with all Company practices, applicable health and safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state, and federal laws.
• Mechanic must work diligently and proficiently, with good work ethic.
• Must be able to follow direction and execute tasks timely assigned by the Site Manager and Lead Mechanic.
• 1-2 years of hands-on experience with automotive, small engine, outdoor power equipment, or marine maintenance (vocational training, professional, or serious hobbyist experience all count).
• A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required. Experience towing and backing up trailers (specifically boat trailers) is highly preferred.
• Ability to use general office equipment, such as telephone, computer, fax machine, printers, and copiers.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills

Salary and Benefits:

• $23 - $25hr DOE
