Splunk Engineer - ISSEJob#: 3055964Job Description:Splunk Engineer - ISSELocation: Arlington, Virginia (Fully On-Site)Role OverviewWe are seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our systems integrator team. The ISSE will be responsible for designing and engineering secure platforms, implementing Zero Trust–aligned controls, automating cyber platform configuration, and integrating detection and response capabilities. This role focuses on engineering and platform security to support cybersecurity modernization initiatives for a program supporting the Department of the Air Force.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement security architectures and platform guardrails for mission systems across compute, network, identity, and data planes.Engineer platform hardening and baselines for Linux/Windows hosts, container/Kubernetes clusters, and cloud services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).Troubleshoot logs to ensure data is processed correctly.Implement and validate STIG/SRG requirements through automated checks and CI/CD gates.Develop Security Test Procedures (STPs) and automated security tests in CI/CD pipelines.Build detection and response integrations and tune signals with engineering teams.Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments and engineer scalable remediations.Collaborate with platform engineers and mission owners to address risk through architecture choices.Engineer identity and access controls (RBAC/ABAC) across applications and clusters.Establish telemetry and compliance automation to monitor systems for threats and misconfigurations.Required QualificationsExperience: 8+ years of experience in Cybersecurity with an emphasis on security engineering, architecture, and platform hardening.Technical Skills:Experience with Splunk and AWS is required. A strong background in troubleshooting logs is essential.Previous experience as a System Administrator with a strong background in Linux/Unix systems is required. Hands-on automation experience using Python, Bash, and Ansible is also required.Certifications: IAT Level II certification is required.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Lambda or writing scripts in PowerShell.Experience with GitLab and Kubernetes.Everforth Apex is a world-class IT services company that serves thousands of clients across the globe.
