Location: Vernon Hills, IL
Pay: $18–$22 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Part-time, 20–25 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Assignment: Temporary, ASAP through January 2027

Opportunity for an Experienced Medical Receptionist!

We are seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Temporary Medical Receptionist to support a small medical office in Vernon Hills. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with medical office experience who enjoys keeping an office organized, assisting patients, and managing records accurately.

The primary focus of this assignment is to improve telephone responsiveness, support an electronic medical records (EMR) system transition, reduce administrative backlogs, and assist with insurance and billing follow-up. This is a nonclinical administrative position that requires someone who is comfortable working independently and taking initiative while the provider is occupied with patients.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 20–25 hours per week
• Preferred hours: 11:00 AM–4:00 PM
• Flexible scheduling available between 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls promptly, assist callers professionally, and help maintain responsive front desk operations.
• Transfer patient information and documents into a new electronic medical records (EMR) system.
• Upload and organize scanned medical records, insurance cards, identification, consent forms, referrals, assessments, and other patient documentation.
• Review patient charts for accuracy and completeness, identifying missing or incomplete information requiring follow-up.
• Maintain checklists to track completed and outstanding patient chart transfers.
• Scan, label, file, and organize paper and electronic documents.
• Assist with outstanding administrative tasks and help keep office records organized and up to date.
• Support timely insurance verification, billing follow-up, and related administrative processes.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Qualifications

• Previous medical office or medical receptionist experience required.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and medical records management.
• Comfortable managing front desk responsibilities independently in a small medical office.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new software and systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Professional telephone manner and strong communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, follow through on outstanding items, and work with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of medical information.
