Pipeline System Controller Trainee I

Job Location Mont Belvieu, 9811 Eagle Drive, Baytown, TX 77523, USA Role Summary Responsible for monitoring and controlling daily operations of product pipeline facilities in the Gulf Coast District. This includes scheduling and coordinating product movement between plants, storage and pipeline facilities. Responsibilities Ensure timely deliveries of product and optimize the scheduling process by coordinating with customers and other Buckeye support personnel. Monitor and control system operations via SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) software. Assist other departments with scheduling operating and maintenance activities. Perform basic accounting functions such as preparing daily throughput reports and weekly volume statements for all business centers. Analyze the Leakwarn leak detection system and react to abnormal situations appropriately. Monitor quality instruments and trend and react to abnormalities as required. Properly document situations and events throughout the shift using checklists, operating sheets and handoff sheets to include what was done, what may occur and what future actions may be required. Pass this information along to the subsequent shift personnel. Report emergencies to proper authorities and company personnel. Support other District projects and special requests as needed. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience in pipeline, terminal or plant operations is a plus. Must have the ability to navigate basic computer systems (i.e., Windows). Basic knowledge of SCADA applications and MS Office applications is a plus. Certificates & Licenses None required. Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities Must be able to visually monitor several computer screens in a control room environment for twelve (12) hour shifts, maintaining a high level of mental alertness and reacting quickly. Must possess good communication (both written and verbal) skills. Must have the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, process work rapidly, set priorities, work under pressure, and follow through with assigned tasks with limited supervision. Must be dependable and flexible to accommodate unscheduled changes in work routine and capable of working 12‑hour shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays. Must have good visual acuity and color perception and the ability to remain seated for 95% of the 12‑hour shift; occasional standing and walking away from the console is limited. Essential Functions Safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards. Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA and other standards. Compliance with all personnel policies. Physical & Safety Requirements Occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Provide continuous computer operation and use of office productivity equipment. Effective communication with others as required. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Subject to DOT drug and alcohol regulations.
