Job Highlights UAB Medicine Infusion Therapy offers effective, quality treatment for all patients, and this specialized infusion space, known as the Extended Care Clinic (ECC), is equipped with four suites to provides urgent, same-day care for hematology, oncology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and cellular therapy patients beyond traditional clinic hours. Designed to treat acute oncology-related complications in the outpatient setting, the ECC team helps patients receive timely care. As part of this team, your responsibilities will include close monitoring and rapid intervention for patients with complex, high acuity needs, making it a unique and rewarding environment at the forefront of outpatient cancer care. UAB Medicine Infusion Therapy is part of the UAB O'Neal Cancer Center, which is home to the state's largest infusion therapy program and only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, recognized for its research and innovation in cancer treatment. UAB is also home to the only adult blood and marrow transplant program in Alabama. These designations represent UAB's commitment to ensuring our patients receive highly specialized therapies, including stem cell transplantation and CAR T-cell therapy. Job Description To provide professional ambulatory nursing care to adult patients with hematologic and oncologic diseases. To demonstrate specialized oncology/chemotherapy knowledge and skills gained through formal education and several years of training. To deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating. To coordinate activities of other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care Qualifications Associate's degree in Nursing. BSN preferred. Work experience may not substitute for education requirement. Two (2) years nursing experience preferred. Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment. BMTC (Bone Marrow Transplant Certification) may be acceptable for specific positions. If working in the Hazelrig-Salter Radiation Oncology Center, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is also required.
