  POSITION PURPOSE

A shop hourly position with the primary responsibilities of supporting the shipping, receiving, kitting, and/or aftermarket functions. As an entry level employee, the Materials Management Associate II is proficient in their assigned area but may require guidance from a senior level employee. They are expected to flex to other areas of the department as needed. The Materials Management Associate III model’s BAC’s values of Earning Trust, Embracing Responsibility, Showing Courage, and Driving Innovation . PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Receiving & Unloading

• Unload incoming shipments safely.
• Inspect deliveries for accuracy, damage, or discrepancies.
• Sign and document receipts following company procedures.

 

Inventory Management

• Accurately count, label, and record inventory.
• Place materials in proper storage locations.
• Report low stock, damaged goods, or inventory issues.

 

Order Kitting, Packing and Crating

• Kitting and staging orders.
• Pack orders securely and prepare them for shipment.
• Building wooden crates for shipping with proper labeling.
• Maintain all paperwork pertaining to the build schedule
• Meet or exceed production goals to ensure Assembly meets or exceeds their OTD rate.

 

Shipping

• Create shipping labels and documentation.
• Load outbound trucks safely.
• Verify accuracy of outgoing orders.

 

Equipment Operation

• Safely operated pallet jacks, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment (if certified).
• Conduct basic pre-operation checks.
• Report mechanical issues immediately.

 

Warehouse Organization

• Maintain clean, orderly aisles and work areas
• Help team keep the Lumber Yard and the surrounding area safe, neat, and organized.
• Maintains and sustain 5’s in the department.

 

Safety & Compliance

• Owns personal and team safety. Observes all safety rules and always uses the proper safety equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Identify and report hazards or unsafe practices.
• Participate in training and safety meetings.

 

Teamwork & Communication

• Coordinate tasks with coworkers and supervisors.
• Support cross-functional warehouse tasks when needed.
• Continuously grow skills and expertise to flex to the maximum number of workstations.
• Maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Knowledgeable of and meets quality standards on a consistent basis.
• Ensure individual activities embrace sustainability, reduce the impact on the environment, minimize waste, maximize recycling, minimize energy and water usage.

General Physical Tasks

• Lift, move, and stack materials safely.
• Stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.

 

Perform other duties as requested, directed, and assigned.

 

 

NATURE & SCOPE

Reports to Supervisor, Shift Leader or senior associate as assigned. Work is primarily related to home department but may be flexed to other departments as order demand dictates. 

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Demonstrated competent writing skills including the ability to document a process in a logical and coherent manner. Ability to communicate to supervisors and co-workers with written memos or email that are professional, concise and clearly understood.
• Demonstrated oral communication skills including the ability to communicate professionally with BAC customer and co-workers. The ability to share information verbally that is clearly understood and technically accurate
• Competent in math including; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction to decimal conversions.

• Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to change and schedule alterations.

• Understanding of elementary and intermediate LEAN principles including 5S, Kanban, one piece flow, and basic continuous improvement techniques
• Familiar with all appropriate procedures, policies, and standard work instructions
• Demonstrated competence in BAC quality procedures and processes to follow when a quality issue is identified
• Computer skills include competence in locating relevant instructions, drawings and forms on the LAN or other databases

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The working environment includes lifting up to 50lbs. Standing is to be expected up to 80% of the time. Additional activities include: walking, reaching, bending, stooping and sitting. Fine hand manipulation of controls is needed as well as hand eye coordination to perform changes. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is to be expected. Working temperatures include both wide fluctuations within the plant as well as ambient outside temperatures.
