Senior Scientist I, Drug Product & Device Development (Temporary)

Vir Biotechnology

Vir Biotechnology seeks a Senior Scientist I for a 12+ month temporary contract to lead drug product and device development efforts. The role combines technical laboratory work with scientific leadership for formulation development of biologics, supporting clinical-stage programs through process optimization and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Lead formulation development and process optimization for liquid and lyophilized parenteral dosage forms
Design and execute in-house laboratory studies including stability assessments and analytical characterization
Oversee internal and external drug product development activities with technical review and troubleshooting
Manage manufacturing technology transfer at contract manufacturing partners
Represent drug product on cross-functional program teams and drive scientific strategy alignment

Requirements

Advanced degree in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, or related discipline
Proven experience developing parenteral formulations for monoclonal antibodies or biologics
Expertise in formulation screening, stability studies, and design of experiments
Experience leading technical transfer at contract manufacturing organizations
Strong knowledge of regulatory submissions and GMP compliance
Demonstrated ability in scientific writing and technical communication
