Our organization is in search of a Section Chief for Imaging Informatics within the Radiology Service. Located at the Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS) Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona, this department delivers specialized radiology services, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care to Veterans throughout central Arizona. The Chief of Imaging Informatics will be responsible for overseeing the comprehensive PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) operations and managing the team dedicated to this function, which includes facilitating digital image sharing between PVAHCS and Community Care partners.

The Radiology Service stands as one of the largest clinical departments at PVAHCS, employing over 130 staff members across nine specialty divisions. These divisions encompass: Staff Radiology, Vascular and Interventional Radiology Services, CT Services, Nuclear Medicine Services, Ultrasound Services, Breast Imaging Services, Diagnostic Radiology, MRI Services, and Clerical Services. Each division operates with its own unique procedures and systems for patient flow, scheduling, quality assurance, and adherence to regulations. Currently, the Phoenix Radiology department is staffed by 24 radiologists who provide both subspecialty and general radiology coverage, with a preference for candidates specializing in Neuroradiology or Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiology.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary: Competitive compensation package, with potential earnings up to $400,000 annually, plus an annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.
• Sign-on Bonus: Up to 25% of your annual salary.
• Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off each year, which includes 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and potentially 5 days for Continuing Medical Education (CME).

• Contract: No Physician Employment Contract is required, and there are no significant restrictions on moonlighting.

* Board certification is required to qualify for the 5 days off for CME.

** The EDRP is available for this position, allowing for student loan reimbursement. Eligibility requirements must be met according to VHA policy, and applications must be submitted within four months of starting. Approval, award amounts (up to $200,000), and eligibility periods (ranging from one to five years) will be determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after a thorough review of the application. Previous participants are not eligible to apply for this incentive.

Employment Requirements:

• A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited medical or osteopathic institution.
• Possession of one full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory, which must remain current and active.
• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory; non-citizens may only be appointed if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA policy.
