Local CDL Driver

Waste Connections is seeking a reliable and experienced CDL A Driver to operate our Missoula route , hauling trash from our transfer station to the landfill in Missoula. This position involves operating a roll-off truck with one box on the truck and pulling a trailer with two additional boxes , totaling three boxes per trip to the landfill.

Starting Pay: $24.50/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday, occasional Saturdays as needed

Start Time: Between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM, depending on route availability

Key Responsibilities :

• Waste Collection and Transportation :

• Operate trash trucks to collect garbage, recycling, and yard waste on assigned routes.

• Ensure the safe and efficient loading of waste materials using appropriate techniques and equipment.

• Transport collected waste to designated disposal facilities.

• Vehicle Operation and Maintenance :

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, ensuring it is in good working condition.

• Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the fleet maintenance team promptly.

• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the vehicle to ensure compliance with safety standards.

• Safety and Compliance :

• Adhere to allsafety protocolsand company policies while operating the vehicle and handling waste materials.

• Comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to waste management and transportation.

• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and provided.

• Customer Service :

• Interact courteously with customers and the public, addressing any questions or concerns professionally.

• Ensure waste collection services meet customer expectations and resolve issues promptly.

• Record Keeping :

• Maintain accurate records of daily routes, waste collected, and any incidents or issues encountered.

• Complete and submit required documentation in a timely manner.

• Qualifications:

Qualifications :

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.

• Two years of commercial driving experience preferred .

• Strong knowledge of local streets and routes.

• Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety.

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and loading heavy items 50 lb +, with the ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb into the truck multiple times a day.

• Comfortable working in various weather conditions

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Steady working history.

• Basicmechanical knowledgefor vehicle inspections and minor maintenance tasks.
