Laboratory Technician - Simply Biotech

OVERVIEW

Immediate opening for a Laboratory Technician in San Diego, CA who possess:

• B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field with several years of hands-on laboratory experience.
• Hands-on experience with LC-MS and GC-MS sample submission, preparation, and data organization.
• Solid experience working in a wet lab environment with a broad working knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with an innovative, team-oriented, and highly motivated mindset.

FULL DESCRIPTION:

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Preparing samples of organic compounds from complex environmental or biological matrices.
• Creating calibration standards, test solutions, buffers, and reagents.
• Preparing complex samples for LC-MS and GC-MS analysis.
• Designing, optimizing, and validating new analytical testing procedures, specifically extracting novel biomolecules from complex or dirty samples.
• Contributing to the daily organization, safety, and cleanliness of the laboratory environment.
• Presenting experimental data and key analytical results at internal scientific meetings.

The selected candidate will also possess:

• Recommended experience characterizing proteins using MALDI-TOF and familiarity with protein OMICs techniques.
• Preferred biochemistry background with hands-on experience measuring enzyme kinetics and protein purification.
• Familiarity with Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and FTIR spectroscopy.
• Proven ability to design and carry out laboratory experiments independently.
• Experience handling complex sample types, specifically cell culture media or related systems.

Salary Range: $25.00/hr to $32.00/hr (Estimated based on San Diego market rates; adjust as needed)
