Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 17 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 48 hours per week Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or above EFM Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of experience in specialty - Travel experience required - No first-time travelers Description: The facility enforces a 72-mile radius rule strictly. The Labor and Delivery unit includes 12 labor beds, 5 antepartum beds, and 2 ORs. There are 6 triage beds available. The unit experiences 150-200 births per month. Nurses are required to follow AWHONN FHM System. The electronic medical record system used is MEDITECH. Charge nurses are generally outside the staffing grid. The facility has OB techs that serve as OR techs for c-sections and attend vaginal deliveries. A lactation consultant is available on-site to assist mothers. Every other weekend is required for staffing. The contract requires rotating in with permanent staff for holiday coverage. Shifts start at 645 AM and 645 PM. Floating is required as needed to post-partum. Common diagnoses include high-risk OB to routine OB. There is an antepartum area for patients needing prolonged stay prior to delivery. Pharmacy services are available 24/7. Neonatology and OB hospitalists are on-site 24/7. There is no IV team or RT service available 24/7. The facility follows best practices for a baby-friendly environment. Cancellation policy allows for 12 hours every 2 weeks. Floor-specific orientation is provided for 2 shifts.
