The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders in young patients, from infancy through adolescence. This role involves conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.PurposeTo provide psychiatric services to children, adolescents, and adults.Knowledge, Skills & CompetenciesDemonstrate the ability to interpret and abide by confidentiality laws, abuse reporting guidelines, client rights requirements, and adhere to a code of ethical and practice standardsMust be knowledgeable of Baker Act and Marchman ActExperience with counseling/psychiatric interventionsProficiency in client care protocol for children/adolescentsExcellent communication skills, both written & verbal: must be able to articulate reports and evaluations regarding clinical and non-clinical issuesKnowledge of medications for child/adolescent specific dosingExpertise in the stages of development in children/adolescentsAptitude for coaching children/adolescents about their illness at age appropriate levelsCompetence educating children about peer influence concepts to adolescentsResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and create tailored treatment plans.Prescribe medications based on diagnosisEvaluate effectiveness of medications(s), including side effects or lack there ofEducate clients, significant others, & staff about medications and interactionsProvide consultation to staff about medication, treatment issues, & termination of clients' treatmentsCollaborate with other mental health professionals, educators, and families to support patient care.Perform mental status examinationDetermine Five (5) Axis Diagnosis based on DSM IV criteria, including GAF scoreOffer discussions on psychodynamics of evaluations (i.e. family environment)Deliver consultations concerning health statusReview & sign-off on treatment plans, medication dividers, and insurance formsProvide correspondence regarding clients issues as appropriate to internal/external sourcesOn-call duties rotation required for additional renumerationOther Minor or Occasional TasksAttend medical staff meetingsParticipate in QI teams and committees to further performance improvement activitiesCrisis Stabilization Unit on-call as determined by Chief Medical OfficerPerforms other duties as assignedEducation & ExperiencePediatric Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with 3 years-experience treating pediatric populations.Education across the lifespan of patient and can see children.We believe taking care of our team is essential to the care we provide.
