About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: RN license Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Ortho experience, Telemetry experience, NIH experience Description: 48GH approved for travelers. Unit has 23 beds with patient ratios of 1:4 and 1:5. Unit staffing includes unit secretaries and patient care technicians. Equipment utilized includes traction, fixators, and cooling equipment. Documentation system is Meditech. Scheduling requires 3 twelve-hour shifts and 3 weekend shifts per scheduling period. Contract labor is the first to float to other medical-surgical level care units. Patient experience requirements include bedside shift report and hourly rounding. Unit certifications include Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. Procedures performed include post-operative knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, trauma patients, and some neuro overflow. NIH certification is helpful. Dress code requires navy scrubs. Unit guidelines and policies are available upon request. Considerations for prospective candidates include new equipment or technology and the tenure and experience of staff. This unit offers scheduling options to accommodate staff preferences.
