About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 12 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Yes Certifications: ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS Certification, NRP Must-Have: We require floating to mother-baby, though this is rare. RNs are responsible for titrating drips. RNs must read their own strips, as there are no monitor techs on the unit. Description: The unit consists of 12 labor and delivery beds. There are 2 OR suites on the unit for C-sections. There are 4 triage beds available. The unit also has 16 postpartum beds. Approximately 160-200 births occur each month. The team follows AWHONN guidelines for ratios. RNs circulate and perform their own sections. Common titratable and set rate drips are used. The charge nurse is free and does not take an assignment. Surgical techs are available on the unit. OB and Neonatologists are in-house 24/7. Anesthesia is also in-house 24/7. Respiratory therapy equipment such as vents, Cpap, and BiPap is available. The unit requires experience in reading electronic fetal monitoring strips. Modified self-scheduling is available for staff. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday coverage is required. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating may be required. Scrub color is royal blue. Unit-specific orientation is provided. The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN is not required for this position.
