Job Summary

A Fresno-based accounting and auditing services firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager for a direct hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a tax professional with strong technical expertise in tax preparation, compliance, research, and strategic tax planning for individuals and businesses.

The Tax Manager will play a key role in reviewing complex returns, advising clients, supporting audit matters, and mentoring junior accounting staff. Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and review detailed federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Conduct tax research and provide strategic tax planning and advisory recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, filing requirements, and reporting standards.
- Assist with tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
- Mentor, train, and supervise junior staff accountants.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver accurate, integrated tax solutions for clients.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage complex individual and business tax preparation and review.
- Lead tax compliance, research, planning, and advisory projects.
- Support tax audits and communications with tax authorities.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax preparation and compliance.
- Proficiency with tax software such as Thomson Reuters UltraTax, ProSystem FX, or similar platforms.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

- 10+ years of progressive tax accounting experience.
- Prior tax management or supervisory experience in a public accounting, CPA firm, or professional services environment.
- Experience providing tax planning and advisory services to both individual and business clients.
- Strong ability to build client relationships and provide consultative tax guidance.
