RN-Registered Nurse // PCU - Progressive Care Unit Onsite Contract Starts 7/27/2026 13 weeks Night Shift 12 hours/day 3 days/week Job Title RN – PCU Duration 13 Weeks Location Winston-Salem, North, NC 27157 Shift 6:30pm start, 12-hour night shift, 3 days per week About Facility 1 Medical Center Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27157 885 licensed beds Level 1 Trauma designation Teaching Hospital – Academic Medical Center Chest Pain Center Stroke Center Unit Information 28 beds, average census 26 Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiology required First-time travelers accepted Patient Types / Common Diagnoses Cardiac PCU – Acute Coronary Syndrome, Heart failure, NSTEMI/STEMI, Chest Pain evaluation, post cardiac cath (PCI), post EP procedures – pacemaker insertion, ICD, ablation; Arrhythmia management, Vascular – Peripheral Artery Disease, AAA Repair, DVT/PE Patient Ratios RN: 1:4‑5 CNA: 1:11‑14 Required Licensure & Certifications BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Skills Required Cardiac rhythm interpretation; Cardiac post‑procedural experience Comfortable titrating medications: Argatroban, Digoxin, Diltiazem, Dobutamine, Dofetilide, Dopamine, Esmolol, Lasix, Insulin, Labetalol, Lidocaine, Milrinone, Nicardipine, Nitroglycerine, Sotalol, Tirofiban Support within the Department CNA – obtains VS and blood glucose checks; assists with hourly safety rounds and ADLs Receptionist/HUC Charge nurse – may or may not have patient assignment Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws No IV/VAT team RT 24/7 available – page for assistance when needed Hospitalist 24/7 Intensivist 24/7 Telemetry monitoring/tech – nurses responsible for monitoring/verifying strips once a shift Technology / Equipment EMR: Epic IV Pump: Alaris Medication dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Philips Unit specific equipment: Floating – 7 Reynolds, 5 Reynolds, Day Hospital, 5CC West Orientation NEO 2 days departmental Other Notes Scrub Color: Royal Blue Parking: Free, on site Unit Culture: Family atmosphere. #1 expectation is teamwork.
