Talent HRizon's client is a growing commercial and industrial power solutions company specializing in the buying, selling, rental, financing, and servicing of generators and related power equipment. The company serves customers nationwide across industries including data centers, healthcare, construction, manufacturing, commercial real estate, telecommunications, and other mission-critical environments. In addition to equipment sales and rentals, they provide turnkey services including installation, decommissioning, asset recovery, site planning, testing, and ongoing generator support.

We are seeking a Director of Finance to lead the financial operations of a growing commercial and industrial power-equipment business.

 

This is a hands-on leadership position combining financial reporting and accounting oversight with FP&A, cash-flow management, inventory economics, operational analysis, and strategic business partnership. The Director of Finance will work closely with the CEO, COO, Sales, Operations, and other leaders to provide accurate financial visibility and help guide smarter decisions around growth, inventory, pricing, margins, and capital. Because the company buys, sells, rents, finances, transports, and services high-value power-generation equipment, this role requires someone who understands the financial realities of an inventory-heavy operating business rather than someone focused solely on corporate reporting.

 

What You'll Do

· Lead the company's accounting and finance function, including monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and financial analysis

· Produce timely and accurate monthly financial statements and management reporting for executive leadership

· Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts while providing leadership with clear visibility into expected revenue, profitability, cash flow, and capital requirements

· Manage and analyze inventory valuation, inventory aging, turns, purchasing activity, equipment profitability, and working-capital requirements

· Partner with Sales and Operations to understand deal economics, pricing, gross margin, commissions, project costs, and profitability

· Develop financial models and analyses supporting inventory purchases, major transactions, financing decisions, investments, and strategic growth initiatives

· Improve cash-flow forecasting and working-capital management across accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, purchasing, and customer/vendor terms

· Establish and maintain appropriate financial controls across purchasing, inventory, payments, collections, revenue recognition, commissions, and capital expenditures

· Build dashboards and KPIs covering revenue, gross margin, profitability, cash, AR, inventory, backlog, sales performance, and other key business drivers

· Evaluate existing financial systems and processes and implement improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, scalability, and visibility

· Manage relationships with banks, lenders, insurance providers, tax professionals, auditors, and other external financial partners

· Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax, reporting, and regulatory requirements

· Support executive leadership with strategic planning, scenario modeling, investment decisions, and long-term financial planning

· Build and develop the finance/accounting team as company needs evolve

What We're Looking For

· 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with leadership responsibility

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

· Strong command of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and management reporting

· Experience within an inventory-intensive operating environment such as industrial equipment, distribution, machinery, rental, manufacturing, construction, automotive/heavy equipment, or field services

· Strong understanding of inventory accounting, cost, gross margin, working capital, AR/AP, and operational finance

· Experience partnering directly with Sales and Operations rather than operating finance as a standalone function

· Advanced Excel and financial-modeling skills with strong experience using accounting/ERP systems

· Ability to translate complex financial information into clear business recommendations for non-finance leaders

· Strong process and internal-control mindset without creating unnecessary bureaucracy

· CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required depending on experience

· Comfortable working in an entrepreneurial environment where senior leaders remain hands-on

 What Success Looks Like

The successful Director of Finance will give the company better visibility into where the business is making money, where cash is tied up, how inventory is performing, and where capital should be deployed next. Within the first year, this person should improve the speed and accuracy of financial reporting, strengthen forecasting and controls, create better visibility into inventory and gross margin, improve working-capital management, and become a trusted financial partner to executive leadership.
