The Cath Lab/EP Technologist performs diagnostic echocardiographic procedures, including stress tests and transesophageal exams, to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring heart conditions. They ensure high-quality imaging, maintain equipment, and provide patient care during procedures. Responsibilities:
- Perform and interpret echocardiographic examinations, including M-mode, 2D/3D Doppler, stress, and transesophageal studies.
- Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
- Recognize arrhythmias and notify physicians of abnormal findings, including acute MI, complete heart block, or tachyarrhythmias.
- Document patient data, procedural details, and technical observations accurately in medical records, ensuring ICD-10 coding accuracy.
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures, offering emotional support and ensuring comfort.
- Participate in on-call rotations, providing extended coverage every 7 weeks, including weekend and emergency situations.
- Hold an Associate or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited program; education verified.
- Maintain BLS certification; current Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI or RDCS.
- Demonstrate proficiency in adult echocardiography, stress testing, TEE, and pediatric procedures as needed.
- Possess strong clinical judgment, diagnostic skills, and the ability to handle emergent situations.
- Exhibit excellent documentation and communication skills.
