Controls Engineer, Amazon Data Services

Salary: $111,300 - 186,100 per year Requirements:

• We expect strong familiarity with engineering records, electrical schematics, and standard operating procedures.
• We require experience with power management and power monitoring platforms.
• We look for a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, plus 5 years of relevant controls experience; alternatively, 10 years of relevant controls experience in place of a degree.
• We require 5+ years working with industrial controls in critical environments such as data centers, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil and gas, petrochemical, laboratory, power, or water facilities.
• We require 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience, including requests for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality assurance, and tracking RFIs and submittals for construction and project delivery.

• We troubleshoot BMS and EPMS issues and carry out root cause analysis or corrective action in our data centers.
• We train and support internal customers and stakeholders on the design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
• We provide technical guidance to operations throughout the data center lifecycle.
• We review quarterly maintenance outcomes and action items for BMS and EPMS and drive resolution.
• We define project scope of work, schedules, budgets, and level of effort estimates for BMS and EPMS requests.
• We manage scope, schedule, finances, and execution for BMS and EPMS improvement projects.
• We support procurement activities such as RFQ/RFP preparation, RFI responses, proposal reviews, and purchase order issuance.
• We participate in our global on-call rota to deliver urgent BMS and EPMS support to live data centers.
• We join project meetings, coordinate with project leads, and provide regular status updates to Controls and stakeholder leadership.
• We support commissioning activities for Controls projects in our data centers.
• We review, implement, troubleshoot, and refine control sequences of operation and feed back to the design team.
• We develop and update controls logic code and graphical user interfaces.
• We manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate complex situations effectively.
• We oversee BMS and EPMS service contracts from a financial perspective.
• We regularly visit local operational data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, and supervise vendor work for alignment with scope, design, sequence of operation, and applicable local codes.
