Description: The unit comprises various types of staff, including Rad Techs with and without CT experience, U/S Techs, and Mammography Techs. Patients are scheduled at a rate of one per hour to accommodate inpatient and ER patients. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. The team includes a Radiology Coordinator, Manager, and Supervisor. Typically, 15 Radiology Techs are scheduled per 24 hours. Eight-hour shifts are expected. Weekend requirements depend on proficiency; proficient candidates may work mornings or afternoons. Holidays are covered by on-call staff. Scrubs will be provided. Radiologists may be on-site or available on call depending on the workload. Floor-specific orientation varies by position, with Rad Techs receiving a brief orientation based on their experience. Types of equipment used include Siemens 64 slice and 128 slice CT scanners and Phillips ultrasound equipment. Common diagnoses involve all typical hospital patients, including those from ER, OR, inpatient, and outpatient settings. It is desirable for Rad Techs to possess a fluoroscopy permit for OR and routine work, and for those with CT and Mammography capabilities to be certified by the state. Advanced certifications and venipuncture experience are considered a plus. Strong OR experience and tomography training for Mammography Techs are also beneficial. The facility may cancel shifts up to four times for the 13-week assignment. Charting is done using Cerner. BSN is not required. Trauma level is unspecified. Care setting is acute. The division is allied.
