What You’ll Do Field Inspections: Conducting electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and building inspections for residential and commercial projects. Plan Review: Ensuring new permit applications meet North Carolina Building Codes and Town ordinances. Problem Solving: Interpreting complex codes for contractors, architects, and homeowners, translating technical jargon into clear, actionable advice. Community Standards: Investigating local code violations and working with property-owners to bring their homes into compliance. Digital Management: Using the Town’s database to record inspections and manage administrative tasks independently. What You’ll Need (Qualifications) Certifications: Level 1 probationary or standard certificates in Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical. Licensing: A valid North Carolina Driver’s License. Mindset: The ability to work independently, use sound judgment, and maintain "firmness with tact" when enforcing codes. Bonus Points (Desired): Knowledge of FEMA flood requirements or CAMA (Coastal Area Management Act) regulations. Ready to Join Us?
