About the Role:

A leading 100% employee-owned civil engineering firm is seeking an experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join its growing team in Racine, Wisconsin.

This is an excellent opportunity for a water and wastewater professional with strong project management and engineering experience to lead diverse projects from planning and design through construction. The successful candidate will serve as a key client contact, manage complex engineering assignments, resolve design challenges, and contribute to business development while working within a collaborative, employee-owned environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for water and wastewater clients, building strong and lasting relationships.
• Manage water and wastewater projects from initial planning through design and construction.
• Independently prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee detailed phases of engineering projects.
• Coordinate project activities and communication across multiple offices and technical teams.
• Evaluate and resolve conflicting design requirements, specifications, and project challenges.
• Perform constructability reviews and ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and technical standards.
• Prepare and review technical specifications and engineering deliverables.
• Apply appropriate engineering techniques and procedures to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Communicate regularly with clients to identify additional project opportunities and expand existing assignments.
• Assist with proposals, project pursuits, and funding applications.
• Contribute to business development and growth initiatives within the water and wastewater market.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biological Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in water/wastewater engineering and project management.
• Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, hydraulics, and regulatory approval requirements.
• Experience managing water and wastewater projects through planning, design, and construction.
• Familiarity with structural design concepts, applicable engineering codes, and regulatory standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and related engineering design software.
• Ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply appropriate engineering techniques and procedures.
• Strong project coordination and communication skills, particularly within multi-office or multidisciplinary environments.
• Proven client relationship and project management experience.
• Experience contributing to business development within the water/wastewater industry.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and technical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented environment.
• Involvement in relevant technical or professional engineering organizations is preferred.
