Registered Nurse

Job Summary: The RN provides support to the physician or psychologist in scheduling, assessments, obtaining orders and medication, and maintaining documentation. The RN passes medication, trains and supervises residential staff to administer medication, and maintains accurate records of all screening activities. The RN services as a resource for staff, residents, and works a regular schedule and on-call. Daily scheduling, direction, and professional supervision is provided by the Clinical Supervisor. Duties and Responsibilities: Physician Authorizations Responsible for obtaining physician signatures as required on all documents. Pass medications as ordered by the physician. Medical Administration Record Prepare MAR cards for use Review and certify MAR cards are completed properly. Keep track of all med orders and any new orders on the MAR cards. Update MAR cards on all new medication orders and remove old orders from the card. Audit MAR cards for compliance with orders. Check for any medications errors and submit a monthly report. Follow up with any missed meds with the appropriate staff. Organize, schedule and document clients medical assessments, As identified by the Physician obtain medication, schedule procedures, lab work etc. and follow up to insure clients needs are met. Review medications with residents and ensure they are aware of possible side effects. Collect health care reports, physicians orders, document future appointments and enter the information and track it on the clients discharge summary. Make note of any medication changes or treatments in the client record. Monitor, document and follow-up on specialist or emergency room visits. Provide monthly health education to residential clients. Maintain inventory of OTC medication, First Aid kits, AED, and Naloxone. Assist with obtaining and submitting urinalysis drug tests to the laboratory. Maintain a regular on call schedule. Work a flexible schedule as determined by the needs of the clients and availability of the physician. Employees are required to use their personal vehicles in certain circumstances and as directed in the performance of their job duties. Ability to lead, train, coach, and develop others Excellent instructional skills Ability to combine pieces of information to form general conclusions Education and Experience: Requires Associate or Bachelor Degree from a Registered Nurse program; Must have valid West Virginia RN License with Pharmacology certification, and AMAP certification. Must have valid drivers license and proof of auto insurance Must have AMAP Certification Able to pass drug testing, fitness for duty, and background check
