Electrical Engineer

Job Overview:
Search Solution Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer on behalf of our client, a company that has been providing electrical design, engineering, and construction services for a wide range of commercial, industrial, and utility projects. This role is critical in delivering high-quality electrical engineering solutions, leading project initiatives, and ensuring all designs meet industry standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities: Electrical Systems Design

• Lead the design of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and communication systems.
• Develop project design goals, specifications, and strategies aligned with client requirements.
• Lead and participate in quality control reviews of engineering documents.
• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and industry standards (NFPA, IEEE, NEC, etc.).

Electrical Systems Analysis & Field Support

• Specify electrical equipment, components, and materials to meet project needs and budgets.
• Independently perform engineering studies such as load analysis, short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash analyses (using SKM or Easypower).
• Review submittals, shop drawings, and other construction documents for compliance.
• Develop relay, transformer, breaker, and battery testing plans and reports.
• Create relay programs and support technicians with electrical system troubleshooting.

Project Leadership

• Manage and coordinate electrical engineering tasks across multiple projects, ensuring adherence to budgets, schedules, and quality expectations.
• Lead and participate in project team meetings and client meetings.
• Oversee the preparation of detailed construction documents, drawings, and specifications.

Mentorship & Supervision

• Guide and mentor junior engineers and drafters.
• Conduct quality control reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with project standards.

Site Engagement

• Lead or participate in site visits to verify existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
• Attend or lead construction meetings, providing technical guidance to field teams.
• Conduct physical walk-throughs to assess conditions and resolve issues.

Process Improvement

• Develop and implement strategies to improve design quality, coordination, and efficiency.
• Incorporate renewable or sustainable design practices where applicable.

Collaboration

• Work closely with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines for integrated project delivery.
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.

Requirements Include: Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (Electrical Systems focus) from an ABET-accredited program (required).

Experience:

• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, primarily in commercial or industrial settings.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required if not PE-licensed, or an additional 10 years of directly relevant experience.

Skills:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical analysis software (SKM, Easypower).
• Ability to design electrical systems per NEC, IEEE, and other applicable codes.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of installation methods and industry standards.
• Exposure to renewable energy or sustainable design is a plus.

Certifications:

• EIT required if not licensed as a PE (or equivalent experience as noted above).
• PE preferred.

Knowledge:

• Strong technical knowledge of electrical design principles, construction practices, and code compliance.
• Knowledge of engineering studies related to power systems.
