Responsibilities
- Monitor patient cardiac rhythms via telemetry and promptly notify RN or clinician of rhythm changes per orders
- Collect data necessary for placement of telemetry and document rhythm intervals in the patient record
- Perform ectopy checks and assist with EKG procedures as part of telemetry care
- Initiate and discontinue monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge
- Communicate clearly with unit staff and providers; participate in handoffs and ensure accurate information flow
- Maintain telemetry equipment configuration, accurate charging, and charting per department standards
- Contribute to patient and family experiences by delivering reliable, professional care during monitoring activities

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of dysrhythmia course and EKG exam prior to orientation
- BLS certification
- Two years of experience monitoring ECG/dysrhythmia in a physician’s office, clinic, hospital, or similar setting
- Knowledge of basic anatomy/physiology of the heart; ability to interpret rhythms
- Ability to work in a Telemetry/Med Surg environment and communicate effectively under moderate pressure
