Department Head, Visual Arts

The Department Head, Visual Arts, is a 12‑month administrative position with an anticipated start date of May 2026. Responsibilities Manage day‑to‑day operations of the department. Supervise all programs offered by the department. Develop course schedules. Make faculty course assignments. Supervise and evaluate department faculty and staff. Manage the departmental budget. Advise students. Review and update departmental curricula. Hire and supervise adjunct faculty. Work toward resolution of student complaints. Serve on college committees. Oversee planning and assessment activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an institution with accredited recognition, approved by the College, with a Master of Fine Arts degree or a master’s degree in art history or a related field, and four years of related full‑time post‑secondary teaching or administrative experience. Earned master’s degree in a different discipline may be considered if combined with demonstrated administrative and leadership capabilities. Successful completion of a criminal background check. Compliance with Florida Statutes §435.04(2) regarding background investigations and FDLE‑approved background checks. Non‑disclosure of adverse information during investigation results in disqualification. Preferred Qualifications Terminal degree. Administrative experience in post‑secondary education. Demonstrated academic leadership. Active involvement in community visual arts. Salary Range $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 (depending on qualifications; salary may be negotiable).
