Senior Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records through accurate general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities. The Senior Accountant will also oversee the Accounts Payable function, collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes, and provide meaningful financial insights that support operational and strategic decision making. Primary Responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for balance sheet and income statement accounts. Perform bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding items to ensure accurate cash reporting. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by researching and resolving accounting discrepancies. Assist with the preparation of internal financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc financial analyses. Accounts Payable Leadership Oversee the daily Accounts Payable process, ensuring invoices, vendor payments, and expense transactions are processed accurately and on schedule. Serve as a resource for the Accounts Payable team by providing guidance, resolving issues, and helping prioritize workflow. Review vendor activity, aging reports, and payment exceptions while working to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Operational & Cross Functional Support Partner with Operations and other business departments to support inventory accuracy, product costing, and financial data integrity. Analyze inventory variances, validate product and costing information, and recommend corrective actions when needed. Collaborate with leadership to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiencies. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to streamline accounting procedures and strengthen internal controls. Participate in ERP enhancements, automation initiatives, and finance system improvements. Develop and maintain documentation supporting accounting policies and procedures. Complete special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required. 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, or retail environment. Previous experience providing leadership, mentoring, or oversight within an accounting or finance team. Strong understanding of GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes. Experience leading month-end close activities and preparing financial statements. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting inventory accounting, cost accounting, or retail/distribution accounting. Familiarity with Accounts Payable processes and workflow management.
