General Job Summary Field Support Engineer works on engineering projects and provides solutions to engineering problems. Supports flight operations, maintenance, and logistical support for unmanned aerial target systems and related equipment. Fosters ethical conduct and personal integrity, ensuring the ability to attract and retain customers. Essential Job Functions Manage effort and time within the budget and schedule provided for tasks. Understand customer requirements and review requirements documents. Ensure customer satisfaction in relation to projects. Support system testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. Support flight testing, data reduction, analysis, and reporting. Prepare test plans and reports. Utilize the TAS for proper tool control and hazardous material utilization. Follow safety precautions and keep the work area and equipment clean. Comply with established QMS procedures. Support Target operations in multiple capacities. May be required to conduct unmanned target operations as a remote‑control operator (RCO) upon successful completion of training and certifications. Maintain outside contact with customers and logistical support commands; travel required. Perform breakout, buildup, testing procedures including hush‑house operations during engine run and decontamination procedures. Conduct troubleshooting activities and aircraft depot rework/repair. Act as Test Director when necessary. Assist coordinating flight operations at field sites with customers. Mentor Level I Field Support Engineers. Support business development efforts in preparation of quotes, proposals, and sales efforts. Support land and boat recovery efforts when required. Evaluate test plans and reports. Develop operating procedures and policies. Assist in collection of data for failure analysis. Assist in transfer/shipment of customer/government property. Maintain flight data collected during flight operations. Review processes, wire drawings, schematics, and fishbone analysis for troubleshooting. Participate in post‑mission/operations debriefs. Train system operators on safe aircraft operation. Plan assigned projects and execute with attention to detail. Manage engineering team’s effort within budget and schedule. Review and ensure adequate facilities at target operations sites. Provide real‑time support to RCO, DCO, and Mission Commander during flight operations. Monitor and report on customer satisfaction. Attend operational readiness and staff meetings as required. Provide customer interface and support at field sites. Consult with Programs and Business Development departments on new opportunities. Interact with intra‑organizational managers regarding matters of significance to KUAS. Supervisory Responsibility None. Experience and Skills Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Track time spent on jobs and enter it electronically. BS degree in a related technical field (Engineering or equivalent) preferred. Experience in customer satisfaction, strong communication skills, and proactive hands‑on approach. Ability to travel as necessary. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated passion for customer satisfaction. Demonstrated strong professional communication skills. Possess or able to obtain US Government security clearance. Ability to work cross‑functionally to meet program requirements. At least 8 years of diversified flight operations and maintenance experience on unmanned aerial target systems, with extensive experience in graphite composite fabrication and repair techniques. Proficiency with ATTS and/or MPTTS. Understand the working structure of the launch system and launcher support system for launch operations. Understand the scoring system and components utilized. Preferred Experience in military aviation or aerospace industry. Experience with Government Database reporting systems. Experience with Government logistical support systems. Experience with field operations or maintenance of subscale aerial target systems or UAS. Lead engineer experience in the aerospace industry. FAA Aircraft & Power Plant License or equivalent positions/responsibilities with time‑in‑service in US Military. Current or previous qualification as a flight controller, RCO, or DCO for UAS or subscale aerial target systems. Work Environment / Physical Requirements Office, manufacturing, or field environment. Perform and assist all activities normally found in aerial target maintenance, including the use of hand and power tools, lifting heavy objects, and working with industrial chemicals and adhesives. May be required to work extended hours or weekends as needed. May work with hazardous materials and wastes. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
