Phlebotomist

PhlebotomistThe phlebotomist performs venipuncture, skin puncture, and specimen collection procedures, managing order entry and billing by assessing medical necessity, and handling various office tasks like answering phones, typing, and filing. They distribute clinical reports, assist with specimen processing, and may perform patient registration. The position includes conducting waived kit testing, micro set-ups, loading specimens onto instruments, and possibly performing instrument maintenance, calibration, and quality control depending on the shift.
