Key Responsibilities of the Senior Construction Accountant
As a Senior Construction Accountant , you will:

• Manage project-level accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Partner with project managers to ensure billing accuracy and financial alignment
• Prepare and submit monthly construction billing, including AIA-style billings
• Monitor customer billing schedules and follow up on outstanding payments
• Maintain job cost accounting, including setup of new projects and cost tracking
• Review subcontractor invoices against committed costs and verify supporting documentation
• Manage lien waivers, insurance requirements, and subcontractor compliance
• Enter invoices, change orders, and schedules of values into the accounting system
• Assist with service billing and subcontractor coordination
• Review job cost reports and support cost-to-complete analysis with management
• Provide backup support for payroll-related reporting (including certified payroll where needed)
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial processes
• Support additional accounting and administrative functions as needed

Preferred Qualifications of the Senior Construction Accountant

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of experience as a Senior Construction Accountant or in a similar construction accounting role
• Strong knowledge of job costing and construction billing processes
• Experience with AIA billing strongly preferred
• Familiarity with construction accounting systems (Sage 300 / Timberline or similar)
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines as a Senior Construction Accountant
