This is not a standard installer job. At Sexton Roofing & Siding, the Gutter & Repair Technician owns our seamless gutter work and our roofing and siding repairs, from the first conversation with the homeowner to the final quality check before leaving the property.

Seamless gutters are the core of this role. You run the machine, you hang the gutters, and you own the result. Between gutter jobs, you handle roofing and siding repairs and lead crews on repair or replacement projects as needed. When you're in a homeowner's house, you diagnose, scope, and sell the repair on the spot. If you can sell and do the repair in the same visit, there's additional compensation for it.

This role is built for someone who takes pride in their craft, earns trust quickly with homeowners, holds a crew to a high standard, and doesn't need to be managed.
 

Key Responsibilities: 

 
Seamless Gutter Installation

• Install 5" and 6" K-style seamless gutters and downspouts on residential and light commercial projects.
• Set up, operate, and maintain the seamless gutter machine, including coil changes, calibration, and daily care.
• Tow and position the gutter machine trailer safely between the shop and job sites.
• Measure accurately, run gutters on site, and install with proper pitch, hangers, and outlets.
• Install gutter guards, leaf protection, and related accessories.
• Leave every property clean and every system draining the way it should.

Roofing & Siding Repairs

• Perform hands-on roofing repairs yourself: shingle replacement, flashing, valleys, penetrations, ice dam damage, EPDM and flat roof repairs.
• Perform vinyl siding repairs, including panel replacement, trim, and flashing.
• Document completed repairs accurately and flag any additional issues discovered on site.

In-Home Repair Sales

• Run in-home appointments: meet the homeowner, get on the roof and in the attic, diagnose the issue, and present a clear scope and price.
• Close repair jobs on the spot. We'll train you on our sales process using our straightforward pricing guide. Your job is to apply it with honesty and confidence. 
• Handle objections and price conversations with composure. Hold the value of the work without being pushy.
• Identify opportunities to expand scope or flag issues for a full replacement referral. Our repair division feeds our sales pipeline.
• Deliver a customer experience that earns reviews, referrals, and repeat business.

Crew Leadership & Team Support

• Lead subcontractor crews on repair and replacement projects as needed. Set the standard, assign the work, and hold the crew accountable to quality and timeline.
• Conduct a thorough quality check before leaving every property. Your name is on the work.
• Communicate job status, scope changes, and any surprises to the homeowner directly and proactively.
• Maintain a clean, safe job site and follow all safety protocols.
• Support the project management team on roofing, siding, and gutter projects as needed.

Bonus Opportunity: Same-Visit Close & Execute

If you sell a repair and complete it in the same appointment, you earn additional compensation. This isn't the expectation on every job. When the scope allows it, we want to reward the efficiency and the customer experience it creates.

What We're Looking For:
Required

• Strong hands-on experience installing seamless gutters.
• Experience operating and maintaining a seamless gutter machine.
• Experience towing a trailer safely, including backing and positioning on residential job sites.
• Hands-on roofing and siding repair experience.
• Experience managing or leading a crew in the field.
• Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and on all roof types in varying weather.
• Strong communication skills with homeowners. Clear, direct, and easy to trust.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Company vehicle provided for job sites and sales appointments.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

• Experience with flat roofing and EPDM systems.
• Prior in-home sales or estimating experience. Helpful but not required. We will train the right person.
• Roofing, gutter, or safety certifications.
• Familiarity with job documentation, photo reporting, or field software

Compensation is competitive and structured to reward the dual nature of this role:

• Base Pay: Commensurate with experience. Hourly Rate.
• Sales Commission: Earned on all repair jobs you sell.
• Same-Visit Bonus: Additional compensation when you sell and complete the repair in a single appointment.
