Job Description The North Polk Community School District is a progressive educational community located in the Des Moines metro area just north of Ankeny, serving the communities of Alleman, Elkhart, Polk City, and Sheldahl. The District proudly serves over 2,200 learners from preschool through 12th grade in five buildings: West Elementary (PK‑through 2nd), Central Elementary (PK‑through 5th), Big Creek Elementary (3rd‑to‑5th), Middle School (6th‑to‑8th), and High School (9th‑to‑12th). North Polk High School, located in Alleman, is seeking to hire a special education paraeducator. The candidate must be flexible, collaborative, and willing to learn and grow. Hours: 7 to 8 hours per day Compensation: $17.82–$20.11 per hour, depending on certification Benefits: Paid leaves, including sick and personal, and IPERS. Duties and Responsibilities Support a safe, positive teaching and learning environment. Adhere to the Individual Education Plan and maintain confidentiality regarding student educational programming. Assist in the physical and intellectual development of students. Support the social, emotional, and behavioral development of students. Establish positive and productive relationships. Communicate consistently with teachers, staff, and students. Demonstrate ethical and professional standards of conduct. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff to ensure best practice and supports are in place for students. Participate in professional learning opportunities, as appropriate.
