Job Title VOC NURSE SR Department Occupational & Environmental Medicine Pay Scale $35.91 - $44.65 per hour Worksite Various; position required to float between East Campus, Hillcrest, and La Jolla Appointment Details Type: Career, Percent: 100%, Union: EX Contract, Openings: 3, Work Schedule: Days, 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday Filing Deadline Tuesday, 5/26/2026 Description Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, the LVN provides comprehensive patient care in an occupational and environmental medicine clinic. Responsibilities include triage, patient examination assistance, medication administration, blood draws, laboratory specimen collection and preparation, patient education, venipuncture, IV access, and documentation. The role also involves return‑to‑work management for employees exposed to COVID‑19, including reviewing test results, following up with employees, answering calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records in EPIC and generating daily reports. Responsibilities Prioritize and assist in patient triage and examination preparation. Administer medications, draw blood, collect and prepare laboratory specimens. Perform venipuncture and IV access, and provide patient education. Document clinical observations and patient interactions. Manage return‑to‑work status for employees with COVID‑19 exposure or infection. Review COVID‑19 results, coordinate follow‑up calls and appointments, and provide timely work status updates to COEM/EOC. Answer employee calls, manage EPIC inboxes, and produce end‑of‑shift reports. Minimum Qualifications Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the State of California. Certification in Intravenous Therapy (LVN IV) issued by the State of California. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months. At least two years of direct LVN patient‑care experience. Demonstrated knowledge of patient flow and efficient monitoring of appointments. Skills in vital‑sign assessment, medication administration (including injections), patient interviewing, and specimen collection. Ability to prioritize critical demands and work within a team environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with EPIC electronic medical records. Background in occupational health and return‑to‑work programs. Ambulatory care experience. Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or process improvement. Point‑of‑care testing experience. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Special Conditions Employment subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment physical. Flexible work hours and locations to meet business needs. Pay Transparency Annual full pay range: $74,980 – $93,229; hourly equivalent: $35.91 – $44.65. Compensation considers experience, skills, education, licensure, and certifications.
