Forklift Operator - 1st Shift

Major product lines include a complete line of thermoplastic and metal fabricated enclosures, fiber optic cable connection and management systems and high performance below grade vaults.JOB SUMMARY:The Forklift Operator position is responsible for all activities associated with the movement and handling of materials related to the yard/shipping and warehouse department but not to exclude the production department. Responsible for computer system update transactions which account for all physical movement, consumption, and production of inventory. Responsible for physical counts of designated inventory items cycle counts as defined and instructed.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Responsible for the moving and storage of finished goods and raw materials, as well as loading product per customer orders on to trucksRemove finished goods and raw materials from or to production lines and locations in the warehouseAssist in shipping, receiving as neededSafely operate all material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet moversMust maintain yard in an organized and neat manner with good skids, legible labels and banded and wrapped skidsScan and move finished goods one pallet at a time from Inbound location to specified zones in Yard location. No yard storage in the designated staging areas by the dockSkids stored in yard must be neatly and safely stacked with enough space between rows to enable label visibility for cycle counting and product identification. Like items must be consolidated every dayMove pallets quickly and efficiently within the yardKNOWLEDGE OF:Good understanding of forklift/pallet mover operation and all safety proceduresGood understanding of material handling within a yard/shipping and warehouseABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:Equipment emergency stopsObtain and maintain forklift operator certificationProper handling and inspection of forkliftsMust understand and follow all departmental safety rulesProper use of all safety equipment: safety glasses, safety shoes, reflective vest/uniformUnderstand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)ISO sections pertaining to the positionEQUIPMENT USED:Sit down forkliftHand tools, power tools, pallet strapping equipmentScannersBox cuttersQUALIFICATIONS:Must have a valid driver’s licenseHave at least one year of experience working in a warehouse, manufacturing, or production facilityHave at least one year of forklift experience and forklift certificationLogistics or supply chain background preferredHigh school diploma or equivalentCapacity to work overtime as neededRequired to perform job duties in all weather conditionsGood vision (this can be accomplished with corrective lenses), central and peripheral vision in both eyes to detect objects or movement in the field of view.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands and working conditions requirement indicated below are examples of the demands that must be performed in carrying out the essential job functions.Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, use of central and peripheral vision, and hearing (up to continuously); speaking/verbal communication, bend/stoop, twist neck and torso (frequently); reach, hold, grasp, push, pull, lift/carry raw material, finished product, tools and machinery up to 50 pounds (frequently)Working Conditions: Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal Weather including rain, sleet, snow, as well as high and low temperatures.
