Part Time Cook

Overview This part‑time position is for individuals with experience as a line cook, prep cook, chef, restaurant staff, or in the food service industry. The primary responsibility is to take excellent care of our customers by satisfying each customer's needs and exceeding their expectations. This requires a defined level of product knowledge, food preparation skills, sales ability, customer relations skills, and cooperation with fellow associates to create an incredible place to work and shop. Responsible for preparing, processing, packaging, and stocking products according to Fresh Foods Standards; providing customer service; cleaning work areas; unloading stock; and reloading salvage products according to Fresh Foods Standards. Responsibilities Take excellent care of customers by meeting and exceeding their expectations. Prepare, process, package, and stock products in accordance with Fresh Foods Standards. Provide customer service, clean work areas, unload stock, and reload salvage products. Use knife skills, cooking terminology, ingredients, and food safety practices to produce quality food. Measure portions, use portion control tools, and garnish food appropriately. Qualifications & Skills Personal skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills and willingness to participate in required training and work with the team to increase customer satisfaction and sales. Education and experience: High school diploma or GED; one to three months of related experience or training; culinary experience and sales; equivalent combination of education and experience. Language skills: Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions in English; effective communication in one‑on‑one and small group situations. Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers using US money, volume, and weight measurements. Reasoning ability: Apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; handle problems with a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Certificates, licenses, registrations: Complete company training including new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and product knowledge. Job knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of cooking terminology, ingredients, food safety practices; use of small and large kitchen equipment; ability to determine degrees of doneness in cooked foods. Age requirement: Associates must be at least 18 years of age. Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and taste or smell. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds (occasionally up to 50 pounds) and reach from 6‑72 inches. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color perception, and depth perception. Work Environment The work environment is moderately to loud, frequently exposed to hot, cool, and extreme cold, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is moderate to loud. Work hazards include hot surfaces, steam, wet floors, hot grease, heavy lifting, knives and other sharp objects, and electrical shocks.
