Expert Technical is hiring for a structural BIM designer for a leading precast concrete

\n

manufacturer with locations throughout the Southeastern U.S. Driven by a mission to

\n

located at the plant in Petersburg, VA.

\n

DAY-TO-DAY:

\n

The Structural BIM Designer uses digital modeling tools to create, manage, and coordinate

\n

complex 3D precast models based on contract drawings, owner specs, or preliminary

\n

value-engineered designs. Serving as a project lead, this role manages communication,

\n

schedules, and cross-functional coordination. Key responsibilities include:

\n

• Serve as a project lead, managing timelines, project binders, and schedules.

\n

Conduct coordination meetings with architects, engineers, general contractors, and

\n

internal sales/estimating teams.

\n

• Utilize Revit or SolidWorks to detail foundation plans, framing plans, elevation

\n

drawings, repair work orders, and erection drawings. Direct and review the work of

\n

3D detailers/designers.

\n

• Prepare long-lead item Bills of Materials (BOM), issue material orders to support

\n

project schedules, and manage the submittal process for erection drawings to

\n

obtain owner/GC approval.

\n

• Manage RFIs, emails, and client conversations, ensuring clear written post-

\n

conversation follow-ups. Notify project management when scope changes impact

\n

change orders.

\n

• Partner closely with Project Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Production

\n

Planning to sequence shop cards, resolve site constraints, and issue final "For

\n

Construction" drawing packages.

\n

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

\n

• 3+ years of structural BIM detailing/design experience.

\n

• Hands-on proficiency in Revit or SolidWorks is required.

\n

• Degree (Bachelor's or Associate) in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Construction,

\n

or a related discipline preferred. Training or certification in Autodesk Revit or

\n

SolidWorks is required.

\n

• Ability to read and thoroughly understand contract drawings, engineering control

\n

drawings, and project specifications.

\n

• Strong communication skills to manage client relationships, RFIs, and schedules.

\n

Ability to perform local job site visits during normal working hours using a company

\n

truck (valid driver's license required).

\n

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring current or future

\n

sponsorship.

\n
