To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!ResponsibilitiesThe Motor Vehicle Mechanic repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors. Work involves most of the following:Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.QualificationsMust have a minimum of 2 years of motor vehicle maintenance experience.Must be knowledgeable in U.S. Army maintenance procedures and AR 750-1.Must have the ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.Must have the ability to receive a favorable TIER 1 investigation.Must be able to bring and use own tool.Desired Qualification: 3-5 years of maintenance experience preferred.US Army MOS 91/63 series qualification is desired.Experience on US Army tactical vehicles is desired.Valid Driver's license preferred.ASE Certified preferred.HVAC EPA Tech Cert 608/609 a plus.Emergency Vehicle Technician Certified ASE Certification desired.High School Diploma/Equivalent preferred.Commercial Driver's license with Passenger Endorsement.Physical DemandsPhysical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching.Work environment includes periodic overtime, exposure to heat, dust, cold, and inclement weather conditions.Pay and BenefitsHourly Pay Rate: $21.90.Hourly Health & Welfare: $5.09Job ID 2026-23175Work Type: On-SiteCompany DescriptionWork Where it MattersAkima Facilities Operations (AFO), an Akima company, is not just another federal facilities contractor.
