Full-Charge Accountant

Extraco Banks is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Full-Charge Accountant to join our team in Waco, Texas. This position is responsible for overseeing the complete accounting cycle, maintaining financial integrity, producing accurate financial reports, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting sound financial decision-making.

Accounting & Financial Management

• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and financial records.
• Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Process vendor invoices, customer billings, and payment transactions.
• Ensure accurate coding of expenses, inventory, and financial transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, depreciation, and cost allocations.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
• Manage the month-end close process and ensure financial records are audit-ready.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
• Support financial reporting and provide management with timely and accurate financial information.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

• Assist with the development and administration of annual budgets.
• Prepare financial forecasts and analyze budget-to-actual variances.
• Monitor financial performance and identify trends impacting business operations.
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested.
• Support management decision-making through accurate financial data and insights.

Compliance, Audit & Risk Management

• Ensure accounting practices comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Maintain financial records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare schedules, support documentation, and reconciliations for auditors and tax professionals.
• Assist with internal and external audits.
• Identify potential accounting discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and business information.

Operational Excellence

• Take ownership of the complete accounting cycle through financial statement preparation.
• Develop and maintain customized financial and operational reports.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate effectively with management, auditors, CPAs, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with special projects and other accounting-related duties as assigned.
• Support a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience managing the full accounting cycle.
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
