Material Handler - Day shift

Job Overview Avantor is looking for a Material Handler with Inventory experience to join our team. The Material Handler works under close supervision, expedites the movement of parts and material between production areas by listing or otherwise moving raw materials and/or parts. Prepares and coordinates schedules for pulling and delivering materials to control the flow of goods and regulate production floor space. Safely operates appropriate equipment (forklifts, hoists, crane, etc.) required to move materials along production floor. Follows all safety rules and practices. Responsibilities Expedite movement of parts and material between production areas. Prepare and coordinate schedules for pulling and delivering materials. Operate equipment such as forklifts, hoists, crane, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, etc. Follow all safety rules and practices. Keep accurate records and reports; assist in physical inventories and cycle counts; ensure stock rotation; key inventory adjustments in computer system. Unload trucks, trailers, containers; count products and compare with manifest; report shortages, damages, mis-shipments; sign for inbound shipments when necessary; move inbound shipments safely to storage. Ensure correct product number, quantity and type (lot, batch, serial number) of product are picked; transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms; label, stencil, tag, mark orders; band, bundle, wrap, over-pack, palletize as required. Compare quantity, labeling and address with order for outbound shipments; assign signature for outbound; move product, cartons and pallets into trailers, rail cars, or containers. Maintain equipment in a neat, clean and orderly fashion; operate equipment safely and efficiently; comply with company standards and OSHA requirements. Repack or re-box cases per customer instructions; repair and consolidate damaged goods; operate shrink‑wrap machine; charge forklift battery; stack or separate good from bad pallets; clean railcars, trailers, and truck docks. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. OSHA forklift experience required. HAZMAT certification a plus. Basic computer skills; familiarity with warehouse systems (WMS – SAP, RF units). 0–1 year warehouse with inventory experience. Ability to handle stress, meet deadlines with tight scheduling; shift priorities easily. Ability to use hands and feet simultaneously for repetitive movements. Must have responsible work habits; available to work shift and occasional weekend. Able to lift up to 75 pounds using proper techniques. Strong language skills: read, analyze, and interpret SOPs, coverage documents, regulations; write reports and business correspondence; present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public; skill in meeting people and listening. Mathematical skills: add/subtract two-digit numbers; multiply/divide with tens and hundreds; perform operations using units of money, weight, volume, and distance; understanding of metric system beneficial. Reasoning ability: apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer skills: type; operate computer; organize and prioritize work; meet deadlines; use Microsoft Office tools and company software. Physical and Environmental Requirements Work in an industrial warehouse environment; exposure to moving mechanical machinery, noise, heights, temperature changes, dust, fumes, gases. Requires standing and walking for majority of the day; ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, push/pull. Ability to lift/carry/push or pull up to 75 pounds with or without assistance. Requires both hands for repetitive manipulation and feet for repetitive movement controlling foot controls. Pay Expected pre‑tax pay range: $35,500.00 – $56,925.00 (actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location).
