Logistics Manager

Job Summary The Logistics Manager position is part of the Operations Management Team associated with delivering MER’s four core service lines (Emergency Response, Industrial and Marine Services, Facility Decontamination and Site Remediation). The position serves as the dispatcher and coordinator of equipment and personnel to the field to ensure the highest level of quality service to employees, vendors and clients. They must adhere to and maintain strict compliance with corporate and office policies and procedures, established health and safety protocols, and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Job Responsibilities Serves as the primary driver of the Resource Center logistics coordination by maintaining a master schedule of personnel and equipment utilization and making deployment decisions on a daily basis, including ensuring daily equipment tracking and readiness. Prioritizes client projects and associated tasks by minimizing sub‑contracting costs with effective utilization of resources. Schedules new orders and adapts changes to existing projects on an ongoing basis. Prepares and submits regulatory notifications (Asbestos Notifications, USCG pump-offs, Locates, etc.). Maintains active contact with field crews throughout the day to assure client expectations are exceeded. Follows up with vendors and service providers throughout project execution and through close‑out. Performs related duties as needed to support effective and smooth operations in the field. Provides guidance and support to direct reports/field employees (supervisors, foremen, drivers, field technicians) by effectively communicating and enforcing company policies and procedures. May serve as a contact for Emergency Response ("ER") Team, taking after‑hours ER calls including weekends/holidays and coordinating responses with on‑call personnel during rotational periods. Works standard office hours of 06:00–16:00, Monday to Friday, with variations as needed by business demands. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent reading, writing and reasoning skills); Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. At least four (4) years of environmental industry work experience with a minimum of one (1) year at the Supervisor level. Strong written and verbal communication, analytical and persuasive skills, and ability to interact effectively with all levels of clients, employees and management. Adept at multi‑tasking with strong supervisory, time‑management, organizational and problem‑solving skills. General working knowledge of OSHA 1910, 1915 and 1926 standards, DOT standards, and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory standards. General understanding of equipment capabilities and the requirements of different types of jobs. Ability to work in a wide range of environments, including hazardous conditions that may require lifting or exerting force exceeding 50 lbs. Must possess appropriate licenses in good standing and meet applicable MER and DOT driving requirements to operate company vehicles and equipment (documentation required). Willingness to work in excess of regularly scheduled hours when necessary. Ability to travel overnight as required by business needs. Successful completion of a pre‑employment background and substance screening process, including employment verifications, criminal search, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search, and continued verifications throughout employment to ensure all records meet company policy standards. This is a salary position; the hiring range for the Logistics Manager position in Newtown, CT is $80,000/year – $92,500/year. The actual salary offered will be determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant skills and experience.
