Industrial Firefighter/Emergency Response Technician, BlueOval Battery Park Michigan

At BlueOval Battery Park Michigan, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety and compliance across the facility. Key Responsibilities Fire Suppression: Respond to all types of fires, operate fire apparatus, conduct search and rescue operations, and perform ventilation, overhaul, and salvage. Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Response: Identify and contain spills, use PPE such as SCBA, perform decontamination, and understand chemical hazards. Medical Aid: Provide pre‑hospital care, first aid, CPR, AED operation, stabilize patients, and coordinate with EMS. Technical Rescue: Participate in confined space, high‑angle, and machine rescue operations using specialized tools. Emergency Standby & Hot Work Coverage: Provide fire and safety coverage during high‑risk work such as welding or hazardous material transfers. Incident Command System (ICS) Support: Operate within the established structure, follow orders, and supply status reports. Maintenance: Inspect, clean, lubricate, and document fire prevention equipment and apparatus; collaborate with operators and engineers. Facility Inspections: Conduct systematic fire safety inspections of buildings, processing units, and equipment. Pre‑Incident Planning: Develop and review pre‑incident plans, understand building layouts and emergency egress routes. Permit System Compliance: Verify compliance for hot work, confined space, and other safety‑related permits. Risk Assessment: Identify and assess risks related to fire, explosion, and other emergencies. Safety Adherence: Follow all company policies, SOPs, and regulations; report unsafe conditions. Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory of firefighting supplies, HazMat absorbents, medical supplies, and rescue equipment. Continuous Learning: Attend required training, drills, and exercises; maintain physical fitness standards. Internal Training Support: Assist in developing and delivering fire safety and emergency preparedness training. Incident Reporting: Document incidents, near‑misses, inspections, training activities, and maintenance reports. Effective Communication: Use constructive communication skills with team members and external emergency services. Shift Handover: Conduct thorough handovers at shift changes. Minimum Requirements Minimum 18 years of age High School Diploma NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II (or equivalent) CPR/AED and First Aid Certification Minimum 2 years of emergency services experience as a certified firefighter Strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, decision‑making, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Ability to pass a NFPA firefighter physical. Attention to detail, strict adherence to instructions and safety protocols. Computer literacy and data interpretation skills. Legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Requirements NFPA 472/1072 Hazardous Materials Operations Certification EMT‑B or higher Relevant Technical Rescue certifications (e.g., Confined Space, High‑Angle, Vehicle Extrication) Rate of Pay and Benefits $28.20 per hour.
