Job Summary:
The healthcare professional specializing in Step Down Units in Centennial, Colorado, is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute setting. This role involves working during night shifts, with a focus on adult patient populations including Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, and other medical specialties. The position offers opportunities for float assignments within a defined zone and requires a commitment to patient safety and clinical excellence.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS certifications; minimum of 2 years of experience in Step Down or Progressive Care Units; Colorado state license; and ability to submit license for processing.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior neuro experience and Epic electronic health record system familiarity.
• Float: Float rotation may be required within Zone 1, which includes multiple facilities covering a 60-mile radius around Colorado Springs, CO.
• Additional Information:
  • No home base facility; clinicians must float within Zone 1.
  • Orientation lasts 1-2 days, conducted with a preceptor.
  • Expectation to be in state for the week of orientation, even if initial modules are remote.
  • Schedule released 4 to 6 weeks in advance, following one of two formats: scheduled at a single facility with potential float within that facility or just-in-time assignment 1-2 hours prior to shift.
  • Work in various units including PCU, IMC, and other acuity levels; flexibility to float into ICU low-acuity holds, MS-Tele, and step-down units.
  • Nurse:Patient ratios typically range from 1:3-4 depending on patient acuity.
  • Must be comfortable managing cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, heparin, and utilizing common titratable infusions.
  • Medical equipment such as vents, Cpap, BiPap available on units.
  • Weekend shifts: 6-9 shifts in a 6-week schedule; occasional holiday rotation.
  • Rare call or standby requirements.
  • Unit orientation and float assignments communicated prior to start date.
