R&D Chemist

R&D Chemist Rogers, Minnesota Full Time The R&D Chemist will support sales growth with new, innovative UV curable and flexographic inks and coatings and will defend existing business with (locally) adapted UV curable ink and coating formulations. This incumbent will focus on lab work including formulating of UV curable inks & coatings, testing of these inks & coatings, scale up, and implementing these inks and coatings in production. Responsibilities will include working as a project leader and team member, serving as the primary liaison with manufacturing, sales and technical services organizations, and interacting with external customers. Primary Responsibilities: Optimize existing UV curable ink and coating technologies, aligned with the customer needs with a focus on supporting International Key Accounts and large National Accounts Develop new UV curable ink and coating technologies, in the frame of the constantly changing regulatory and business environment Organize and execute lab activities (formulation, testing and planning of scale up) around specified customer support projects & activities Ensure that Customer, Sales, and Technical Service have all technical information needed to properly communicate with the customers Follow and be a positive influence with regards to Flint Group Safety Culture in the labs and production Job Duties Be professional, reliable, ethical, responsive & customer focused Proactively communicate results and interpretations in a clear and concise manner Concentrates his/her efforts on important priorities Plan and schedule all technical activities of a project(s) Lays out work in a well-planned and organized manner Maintains two-way dialogue with others on work and results Use first-hand customer information to improve/develop products Demonstrate successful project management skills Qualifications This position requires a BSc or master's degree in chemistry or polymer chemistry. 1 to 3 years' experience in the printing inks industry, working for an ink or coating company specialized in UV technology is a plus. Hands-on experience working in laboratory at academic or industrial level is a must have. The candidate should have experience working in a team environment. Strong written and verbal communications skills as well as a first experience in project management skills are required for this role.
