Production Worker

This role involves performing a variety of general production and labor duties in a manufacturing plant, including reworking products that do not pass quality checks, monitoring machinery, and ensuring products meet established quality standards. You will work on a production line, handle heavy lifting, assist with machine setup, and maintain a clean and orderly work area while supporting overall production goals and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor and production duties, including lifting, moving, and handling materials throughout the production process.
• Work on the rework line by opening bags that did not pass quality checks and dumping the contents back into bales for rebagging.
• Operate or assist with production equipment and guide materials to specific lengths using scales, rulers, or templates as required.
• Observe machine operation closely to detect product defects or signs of machine malfunction and report issues promptly.
• Inspect products for inconsistencies, defects, or abnormal appearance and verify that they meet all quality requirements.
• Assist other operators with setting up machines and completing any tasks needed to meet production deadlines and ensure timely completion of orders.
• Maintain housekeeping standards by keeping the assigned work area clean, clear, and orderly at all times.
• Follow all safety guidelines and use required personal protective equipment while performing job duties.
• Support team members as needed and perform other related duties that may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis in line with the nature of the job.

Essential Skills

• Experience performing general labor or production work in a manufacturing, warehouse, construction, landscaping, or similar environment.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
• Comfort working on a production line with repetitive tasks and consistent output expectations.
• Ability to observe and monitor machine operation to identify defects, irregularities, or malfunctions.
• Strong attention to detail when reviewing products for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance to ensure quality standards are met.
• Capability to assist with machine setup and follow instructions to meet production deadlines.
• Demonstrated history of good job tenure with stable employment and limited job changes.
• Willingness and availability to work extensive overtime, including long shifts and frequent Saturdays, especially during busy seasons.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a production worker, production operator, or production line worker.
• Experience in roles such as general laborer, bagger, forklift operator, construction worker, concrete worker, or landscaper.
• Experience in similar production or industrial environments is preferred, especially in building materials or related industries.
• Ability to work effectively in a hot, dirty, and non-climate-controlled environment.
• Comfort wearing and consistently using personal protective equipment such as steel-toed boots, hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses.
• Reliable transportation and strong attendance habits to support a demanding schedule with significant overtime.

Work Environment

This position is based in a medium-sized manufacturing plant that is very dirty and hot and is not climate controlled. You must wear steel-toed boots, while hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses are provided. The work involves heavy lifting, physical labor, and constant movement around production equipment and materials. The schedule is primarily a second shift, typically 4:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with required Saturday overtime during busy seasons. As production levels adjust toward the fall, shifts generally move to 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime on 12 Saturdays per month. The role requires a strong commitment to working significant overtime and performing in a demanding industrial environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of WHITE MARSH, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
