Assistant Principal for Academics Full-time, Exempt Status Reports to: Principal of Elyria Catholic Location: Elyria Catholic High School Contact: View phone number on click.appcast.io | Employment email: View email address on click.appcast.io Responsibilities Collaborate with the Principal in the implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of all academic programs and initiatives. Coordinate and supervise curriculum development, instructional programming, assessment practices, and the responsible integration of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, across all academic departments. Assist with the implementation of the school's academic improvement goals, including the integration of design thinking across the curriculum and the advancement of STEAM initiatives that promote creativity, innovation, collaboration, and real‑world problem‑solving in support of the school's Catholic mission. Research, evaluate, and promote innovative instructional practices, including the appropriate, ethical, and mission‑centered use of artificial intelligence to enhance student learning, critical thinking, creativity, and academic integrity while upholding the dignity of every person as a gift from God. Support faculty in developing authentic learning experiences that foster empathy, critical reflection, creative problem‑solving, prototyping, testing, and other design‑thinking competencies while encouraging students to use their God‑gained gifts to learn, serve, and lead. Observe, supervise, and evaluate educational personnel in accordance with school and diocesan policies and procedures. Monitor academic programs, instructional practices, and educational systems to ensure effectiveness, accountability, and alignment with school goals. Develop and manage the master schedule for faculty and students, ensuring the efficient use of personnel, facilities, and instructional resources. Oversee the school's student information system and provide training and support to faculty and staff regarding its effective use. Assist in the planning and implementation of professional development opportunities that support faculty growth, instructional excellence, educational technology, design thinking, STEAM education, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning. Collaborate with the Principal, Assistant Principal for Student Life, Department Chairpersons, and faculty to ensure curriculum, instruction, assessment, and academic programming reflect the mission, values, and vision of Elyria Catholic High School. Analyze student achievement data and other academic performance indicators to support informed decision‑making and continuous program improvement. Assist with accreditation activities, school improvement planning, strategic initiatives, and other efforts that advance academic excellence and Catholic identity. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to support the day‑to‑day operation and overall effectiveness of the school. Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal. Qualifications Master's degree or higher in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. Minimum of five years of experience in education, with demonstrated leadership in student activities, campus life, or school culture. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, faculty, and staff. Experience in coordinating student life programs, including clubs, events, retreats, service initiatives, and leadership development. Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and follow‑through.
