Description of Work Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences SALARY RANGE: $39,731.00 - $65,611.00 The Office of the District Attorney, Prosecutorial District 1, seeks a qualified candidate to provide legal support services to the prosecutors in a 7-county district. The position will be housed in the Pasquotank County office with opportunities to travel the beautiful coastal district visiting Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Dare and Perquimans counties. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Answer phones and assist the public

Type correspondence

Prepare legal documents for criminal and juvenile proceedings

Prepare files

Assist victims and witnesses and aid their understanding and navigation of the court process

Provide emotional support and guidance

Understand, prepare and attend court

Gather information to assist in the prosecution of cases

Other duties as assigned.

court system and procedures; legal terminology; and community resources to refer victims and witnesses. Skill in:

Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; accurately typing 35-40 wpm; and answering a multi-line telephone system. Ability to:

interview to elicit information from victims and witnesses to assure appropriate services; coordinate and schedule the daily operations of the victim and witness program; manage the court appearances of victims and witnesses to ensure their presence in the courtroom when needed; communicate orally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies and the general public; and calmly handle stressful situations.

Graduation from high school or high school equivalency certificate and two (2) years of legal secretarial experience. P

referred Qualifications Previous experience working in a District Attorney’s Office or similar legal setting Background in victim advocacy or experience assisting victims and witnesses in a legal or community-based organization. Familiarity with coordinating services across agencies to support victims/witnesses.
