Special Education Teacher - Dover, Delaware

Job Description

This contract opportunity for a Special Education Teacher will allow you to bring expertise, compassion, and innovation to students with diverse learning needs. In this role, you’ll work closely with administrators, general education teachers, and families to foster an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere near Dover, DE.

Desired Qualifications:

Valid Special Education teaching certification
Previous experience in a Special Education classroom preferred
Strong understanding of IEP development and progress monitoring
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet varied learning styles
Dedication to creating a positive, inclusive environment

Primary Responsibilities:

Implement and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students
Assess students’ abilities and development, creating lesson plans tailored to individual learning goals
Collaborate regularly with general education staff, therapists, and families
Maintain accurate records and document student progress
Adapt curriculum, instructional methods, and materials to suit the specific strengths and needs of each student
Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development initiatives
Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom climate
